Long time commitments WR Justin Brent and DE Andrew Trumbetti have enrolled for the spring semester and will begin their Irish careers with off-season workouts.
Brent graduated from Speedway High School (Speedway, IN). He was rated as the top player from Indiana and listed as a composite 4 star recruit (0.9543) by 247sports.com.
Trumbetti is a life-long Irish fan and graduated from North Valley Regional High School in Demarest, NJ. He is also listed as a composite 4 star prospect (0.9359) by 247, and may see another bump in his ratings after a strong week of workouts for the Under Armour game earlier this month.
Early entries have been a bit of a mixed bag for the Irish since Charlie Weis began instituted the policy in 2006. Some of the successes include Armando Allen, Jimmy Clausen, TJ Jones, Tommy Rees, Kyle Brindza and Ishaq Williams. Some of the misses include the Tee Shepard, Aaron Lynch and Gunner Kiel sagas.
Last year's class of January enrollees included Malik Zaire, Steve Elmer, Mike Heuerman, James Onwualu and Corey Robinson. While it is too early to tell how that class pans out, three of the five players saw significant reps as true freshman.
While they have only been on campus for a few days, it would appear that both are adjusting to college life quickly:
