What a fitting way for the Notre Dame women to end their time as members of the Big East Conference. After six failed tries (losing to UConn in each and every tournament championship game), they found a way to win 61-59. They blew a six point lead in the closing minutes, and UConn had the ball in the closing seconds when defensive pressure made them throw an errant pass that Skylar Diggins intercepted, and then with the clock running down, dribbled down the court to find Natalie Achonwa all alone under the basket who laid it in. A last desperation shot by UConn fell short, and
Skylar, Muffet and all the ladies celebrated.
Much as I hate to post anything to an ESPN article, here's a link to their story about it, including video highlights.

God, I'd love them to go all the way in the NCAA's. And by the way, they've got a freshman (Jewel Loyd) who is quite the player. Skylar is going to leave the team in good hands.
Go Irish!
