Week 2 is upon us and there will be games on television.
Let's talk about those games on television this week then.
Check out the full TV schedules at this excellent websites:
All times listed are EST
Thursday 6 September
Pittsburgh at Cincinnati 8:00 ESPN
Wow, does Pitt need this game or what? In reality, if the Panthers did win this people might forget their embarrassing loss last week. Didn't Virginia Tech lose to a FCS team then have a really nice season? Hey, it could happen...but I doubt it.
Friday 7 September
Utah at Utah State 8:00 ESPN 2
Not a great Friday night game, but Utah State has proven to be feisty in recent years. You might be better off reading some articles on One Foot Down or spending some time with your friends and loved ones on one of the last Friday's of the summer season.
Saturday 8 September
Penn State at Virginia 12:00 ESPN
I was going to say that Penn State needs this game---but do they really? Does it really matter at this point? I will say this...Mike London has been doing great things per everyone, and I feel like there's a lot of pressure on Virginia to defend their home turf and win this game. You don't want to lose to downtrodden Penn State right now.
Miami at Kansas State 12:00 FX
Very intriguing game in my book, such a contrast in styles, players, tradition, etc. If Miami really doesn't have a defense they could get roughed up in this one, but the Canes have enough talent to keep this close.
Auburn at Mississippi State 12:00 ESPN
I've seen some hype building around this game on Twitter, but this is really a crappy game for SEC standards, particularly since Auburn just lost to Clemson. I'm sensing a 10-7 game and lots of defense.
UCF at Ohio State 12:00 ESPN 2
UCF isn't crappy so does anyone believe they can upset Urban Meyer at home with this new Buckeyes team? I wouldn't bet on it but it might be worth it to check this out while you're flipping through a few other games.
Purdue at Notre Dame 3:30 NBC
Yours truly will be in the Bend for the home opener. Game preview goes up tomorrow and I'll have a nice review of my time on campus next Monday.
Air Force at Michigan 3:30 ABC/ESPN 2
Michigan really needs a nice bounce back game following their burial courtesy of Alabama. A lot probably think the Falcons are going to give Michigan some problems but I bet they roll big in this one. We're going to get a 2-1 Michigan team coming to South Bend after two big wins.
USC at Syracuse 3:30 ESPN 2/ABC
USC travels east! I've always enjoyed watching games in the Carrier Dome so this might be worth checking out during commercials of the ND game. Of course the Trojans are going to roll but you can see if Marqise Lee has 100 yards at halftime.
Florida at Texas A&M 3:30 ESPN
The first of a new SEC matchup as Florida makes a rare trip west of the Mississippi River during the regular season. Remember A&M didn't play last week due to the hurricane so this is their debut for 2012.
Wisconsin at Oregon State 4:00 FX
Oh look, how cute! Wisconsin's annual "tough" out of conference game. It's really too bad that the Badgers couldn't work out a series with Notre Dame this summer, I am certain they were trying real hard to get that done.
Washington at LSU 7:00 ESPN
This is a huge game for both teams. Steve Sarkisian would love to steal one out of Death Valley, but good luck with that. Washington is supposed to be building but I think LSU will show just how far they have to go.
Nebraska at UCLA 7:30 FOX
Nebraska might be without running back Rex Burkhead for this game. Upset alert! Upset alert! Just kidding, no way. Well maybe, I don't know...it might be worth checking out.
Georgia at Missouri 7:45 ESPN 2
Another new SEC matchup that started with a bunch of trash talk coming from the Tigers this week. This is definitely a game you'll want to tune into.
Duke at Stanford 10:30 Pac-12 Network
Is Stanford going to struggle with Duke? Let's hope so.
