Coach Brian Kelly has received his 21th verbal commitment for the 2013 class today from WR Torii Hunter, Jr (Prosper, TX - Prosper). He is listed at 6'1" and 172 lbs with a 4.57 second 40 yard dash.
Hunter is the son of MLB All-Star Torii Hunter. He committed to Notre Dame over offers from Alabama, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Stanford and West Virginia among others. In addition to playing football, he plans on playing baseball for the Irish.

Given the youth (and depth) Notre Dame has at receiver, Hunter Jr may not see much action right away in South Bend outside of possibly special teams. While he has decent size (listed at 6' to 6'1") for a wide receiver, he probably needs to add 20-25 lbs to be an every down receiver at the college level.
Torii has some great qualities for a wide receiver-good acceleration, precise route running, willingness to go over the middle, and excellent hands. While he might not have elite level straight line speed, he does have the ability to stretch the defense vertically and potentially blow the top off of the coverage. His highlights remind me a bit of current Irish WR TJ Jones and will likely be utilized in a similar fashion during his college career.
Welcome to Notre Dame Torii!
