Notre Dame Hoops Down #1 Syracuse 67-58, Handing Orange First Loss

Jack Cooley is a bad-ass. Jerian Grant's swag is phenomenal. Syracuse no longer has zero losses, and the Irish have ended yet another win streak in South Bend. So awesome. Twenty and one, baby. Twenty and one.

Great, great win, obviously. Celebrate everyone.

Phenominal win

With 8 wins at home over #1 ranked teams, when can we start referring to the JACC as the graveyard of empires?

i lived in the Bend too long

i’ve never been comfortable with JACC. Fr. Joyce was a great man, but it will always be simply “the ACC” to me…..or, as my dad used to call it “The Big Bra”.

The Big Bra.

It’s so simple. It makes so much sense. How did I never hear of nor come up with such a nickname in my four years at ND?

Ah, you got there right before i moved to CA

My friend Chip owned the Blimpie in the Martin’s plaza, so if you ever went there there’s a chance we might have met. i quit working for him May ’99, but still was there a lot. If you took a Yellow Cab during your freshman year, i was the cabbie with dreadlocks.

Not that it matters though, “The Big Bra” wasn’t really in my lexicon then, so i never would have said it. No shame in not coming up with it yourself though. i think my Dad may have coined the term himself. Mom made his stop saying it when i was in the 1st grade…i said it during class and teacher went ballistic :P

"If you took a Yellow Cab during your freshman year, i was the cabbie with dreadlocks."

Then I probably owe you $5-$10. Do you accept checks?

I kid. I never got a ride from a cabbie with dreads. That I can remember.

by Mouth of the South on Jan 31, 2012 3:11 PM EST up reply actions

Well, if you were at all a typical Domer...

then the number of cab rides you don’t remember greatly exceeds those that you do. :P

On a football related note. Julius Jones and two OL rode with me several times. It was funny looking in the mirror and seeing this little guy squished between two giants. For some reason he never sat in the front, though i always offered.

Looks like the student section was JACC'd

I don't tweet often--but when I do, you can be sure it isn't important.

Just like old times.

As someone who attended the ‘71 game against UCLA (where Austin Carr went off on the Bruins), and the ’74 game against UCLA (where John Shumate, Gary Brokaw, Dwight Clay, Goose Novak and a very young Adrian Dantley came back from 70-59 down with 3:56 left to win 71-70 – I’ll never forget standing on the court after the game while the Alma Mater played with our heads bowed and our hands up in the air in the “Number One” salute), I’m glad to see a magic moment happen again at Notre Dame.

It has been a long, long time since the line “what tho the odds be great or small” had real meaning. It does today. Thanks to Mike Brey and the Men on the team.

IF IT TAKES FOREVER!!

I really don't like Jim Boeheim or Syracuse.

Since 2005: Royals win% = .4100, Chiefs win% = .4095

that I decided to go to the hockey game instead.
