I took three key observations away from Notre Dame’s rain-soaked home opener against South Florida: inexcusable turnovers (8 penalties for 73 yards), missed opportunities, and a distinct lack of mental toughness.  Beloved Notre Dame is generally pre-ranked in the Top 25 every single year, but do they really deserve it?  Lets stop anointing the Irish king every year and let them deserve their annual ranking.  Show me something for once, Notre Dame because I can’t remember the last time you actually deserved a top 25 ranking.
