BlogPoll Ballot Week 13: Chaos

As always, not a power poll or predictor of future success.  Also, this is terrible and I'm sorry.  More after the jump:

Star-divide

So LSU is number one and Alabama is number two and then...what?  Arkansas has beaten no one save for South Carolina.  Virginia Tech has way less than that.  Boise doesn't really have that many nice wins, but their one loss is to a respectable foe and they have that demolition of SEC East champ (you're the tallest elf, congrats!) Georgia.  USC's two losses (at Arizona State, triple OT vs. Stanford) are balanced out by some great wins (at Oregon, at Notre Dame).  I still love Kansas State, but will admit I probably have them too high.

Farther down,  I don't know. All the Big Ten teams have beaten each other to the point getting any sort of logical order is impossible.  Clemson's loss was terrible, peace. Houston still hasn't beaten anyone.

We have until tomorrow morning to make changes.  Help me make changes. Please.

Too much is based on previous weeks' rankings and early-season success.

If you lose two games in three weeks in late October – mid-November, you should not be ranked ahead of a team that has won 8 of 9 against good competition. But I’m biased, of course.

Plenty of room to move up

In the next two weeks there will be the following match-ups:

Penn State/Wisconsin winner vs. MSU (Big Ten Championship)
Houston vs. Tulsa
Michigan vs Ohio State
Georgia vs. LSU/Alamaba/Arkansas
South Carolina vs. Clemson
Oklahoma vs. Oklahoma St
Clemson vs. Va Tech (ACC Championship)
LSU vs. Arkansas

The Irish should move up 5-6 spots on attrition alone if they can beat Stanford, and add the quality win on top of it and they could likely end up in the #13-16 range going into the bowl game.

The magic number for ND is 14.

It probably won’t happen, but it would be interesting if it did.

Agreed.

It would be most interesting indeed. They need to take care of business on Saturday night and let everything else play out. There is at least one at-large bid up for grabs, and the guaranteed sell-out is a very appealing thought to most bowl officials.
